Twisted

i've housed all the previously published files on the scandalizing nature of the Second Life Fashion Industry over at a brandly new blogsite: http://maynelinex.wordpress.com/. make that http://maynelinex.blogspot.com. Mayne Line Exposé is designed to specifically and exclusively inform the fashion community through an ideal perspective given only to the annointed, fabulously rich, and Ultra Core.

uncovering, from deep infiltration into the fashion world's nether parts (literally in some cases, haha), let us reveal their very strangeness of being. what lies lie behind their illusory appearances? how have we all been played?

come along as the real meets the imaginary.

Chat With DJ Meredith Freund

Hi all Mayne Line Fashion readers. I've asked our guest, DJ and fashion buff Meredith Freund, to give us a brief introduction to herself in starting off this fabulous interview. I have known her for about a year now soo .... It's my pleasure to introduce you to the most talented DJs and one of the coolest people I know .... Here's Meredith:

My SL journey began about 2 years ago, first as a dancer then later as a hostess. My passion for music always drew me into the club environment so my progression to DJing, about 15 months ago, was a natural one. With the encouragement of my friends and the guidance of a dear friend of mine, Kromus, I was able to launch my DJing career relatively seamlessly. The number one motivating factor for me as a DJ is the response I get from my fans. I believe that music is passion, and I love that I have the ability to share this with others.

WY: Thanks Meredith. It's quite inspirational as well as educational and just too darn cool if i may say. Grins.. Anyway,I'd like to welcome you to our Fashion blog and thank you for sharing your talent with the world of fashion and music lovers alike. I'm so thrilled, thanks for doing this interview with me. Now that I've said that, here's my first question: For new SLifers that are just starting to know you, We'd love to know if there's a signature music that's your speciality or a trademark that SLparty people would know should they approach you for a DJing gig?

MF: I would have to say I'm pretty versatile. I'm known for taking requests and mixing up my sets. If I had to choose a favorite music genre, I don't think I could. I really enjoy listening to different styles based upon the mood I'm in and the mood of the crowd.

WY: That's soo great. How can anyone resist a versatile DJ. I know personally when you DJed my party it turned out soo fun we loved your selections even the goofiest songs you so cleverly managed to pull up. It was soo funny everyone was cracking up. Thanks again Meredith. Oh here's my next question: Fashion designers get inspiration from images, ideas, pop culture, Hollywood, etc.. That shapes the look of their latest collection or their latest seasonal line. Right now, is there a certain type of music that you get inspired from when it comes to your own fashion at work and your SLife?

MF: The music that inspires me the most profoundly is the music that speaks to my heart. I like music that is uplifting and happy and can change my mood in a matter of minutes. Because of this I choose clothing that is light, fun, and flirty with plenty of color and variety.

WY: Great sounds and flirty outfits. That sounds scrumptuous. Alright, alright, next question: I can't resist we can't get out of this interview with out me asking what are the top 10 most fave requests? For this week at least. Which would you say is your fave in the list ;-) ?

MF: I didn't really receive a lot of requests this week. I did however rotate in some new music. I am constantly looking for new music and find inspiration from many places for new songs to play. Songs in my current rotation: Queens of the Stone Age-3's and 7's, Hilary Duff-Reach Me, AFI - Miss Murder, Hollywood Undead - Undead, Kat DeLuna - Run the Show, Eve - Tambourine, Marilyn Manson - Saint, Muse - Invincible, Beyonce - Single Ladies, Kanye West - Love Lockdown. My favorite song is and always will be Invincible. It has a personal reason that's close to my heart.

WY: Wow, rockin' tunes! I totally love Beyonce's new video of Single Ladies. Diggin' the robo-ish inspired gloves. Calling all designers! Who needs some cool inspiration? While listening to Beyonce and workin' those mad skillz on makin' those cool gloves. I can't wait to get my hands on an SL pair, hehe. Hint hint.

So, I'm thinkin'. Our Dj Mere is playing all those faves while workin' the dancing crowd for SL SUPREME DJ BATTLE. Yes, she's a finalist. I'm not surprised ... anyway, I'd like to ask you Mere, for our readers and myself, how do you prepare for these types of contests?

The group info says: "16 of Second Life's Best DJ's, 7 events. Battle it out to see who is Crowned SL's Supreme DJ and 50K Prize, A chance for their own on Vengence Radio plus a feature article in SL's best magazines. Bi monthly competition, each winner will proceed to a yearly final with a prize of 100K and the title of SL's Supreme DJ." OMG, chills of excitement. You can totally have all that Mere. How do you get yourself psyched to do your best while DJing?

MF: Well, it all starts with a song. I am constantly listening to music during the day and i will hear one song that will inspire my day and the start of my set. I start hearing the music and i get excited but when it comes to actually djing I am so very nervous. I think somehow that nervous energy fills me and pushes me to really try to do my best to excite the crowd and when the crowd is excited and happy then I am excited and happy.

WY: We definitely wanna know more details about this contest. Will you please fill us in?

MF: I was invited to the contest by the sponsors. It started out with 16 awesome DJs. In the first round the 16 were broken into 4 groups of 4. The top two DJs in each group with the highest votes moved on to the next level. In the semi final round, there were two groups of four. The voting for that round was done by a panel of judges. They judged numbers, crowd interaction, and style. The top two from each group moved on to the finals. The final round had the last four DJs and was judged in the same manner as the semi final round.

Update: Our fave DJ Mere passed another qualifiying round. Another win! Yay! Congratulations are in order once again. Wewt!

This is all for now, I'd love to thank our guest DJ and fashion buff Meredith Freund for letting us a see a li'l of her world.
